Ohai friends of mine who are of the Jewish faith!
I have one question for you:
What songs have you heard at weddings that you really enjoyed?
I am on the hunt for something to sing for the processional and recessional at a reform service. My friend would like at least some of the lyrics to be in Hebrew.
Any recommendations, ideally before Friday afternoon as I'll be heading into the biggest musical store in D.C. to continue my epic quest, would make for a very, very, very grateful Kaitlyn.
*pre-emptive hugs!*

Cast-- The Boy, Q'aartai child; Race Official, Human elder; "Chip", appaloosa "head" wyrmbred
The boy had been successful many times. First he need only slip through the scanners under the flowing coat of a upper-class patron attending the race, preferably one who looked like the sort security wouldn't dare question. Second, fall into the throng of the drunken lower class Q'aartai and watch the race from the relative anonymity of the infield. Today's noble of choice wasn't bringing in any weapons, an unfortunate challenge for the boy's chances -- no technological cloaking device in the cloak itself. But he is ready when the alarm sounds at his presence and is forced to duck out a bit earlier than planned. The noble begins to scream at security for daring to accuse him of anything whatsoever, and the boy grins at the convenient diversion. It was a rougher entrance than the boy would have preferred, but certainly still worthy of being dubbed a success--
"Sneaking in again, eh?"
( The youth turns around to find that kind gray-green eyes, well lined about the edges, meet his wide pink gaze of utter horror with amusement. )

I meant to sleep. Really I did. And then there was the discovery of hulu, and Season 3 Heroes, and Sylar's character finally being given the depth he deserves. ;_;
(We'll ignore the fact that Zachary Quinto is the first actor in years to inspire the re-awakening of my inner fangirl. It's shameful. No. Really.)
<3 Spock. Intrigued by Sylar. WANT MOAR QUINTO.

I found my old DeadJournal earlier in the evening and read through some of the entries, which date mostly from 2002 and 2003, with a few sparser options until mid-2005.
What jumps out at me:
a.) I was horrifically depressed during those years. The number of times I so blithely mentioned suicidal thoughts, hating myself, being ugly or worthless - it actually kind of frightens the present me that I was so blind to it.
b.) A good friend of mine, we'll call him D, has been around for far longer than I always seem to think. I love him dearly, and am grateful for his presence over the course of my life.
c.) I have changed -SO MUCH- in seven years. Unsurprising, but to see it so drastically with the comparison of writing style and topic... Oof.
d.) How many Disney-esque crushes do highschoolers and middleschoolers have!? Ye GODS yeh little prudish Kitling of yore, what WERE you THINKING!? *cackles*
e.) Mri'sai has, and continues to, mean more to me than life itself. *nuzzle a lioness*
/end dorky moment of nostalgia and glompage. ^_~

So I'm sick. I don't know where it's going but as of now I'm living in raspy, painful-to-swallow, baritone land and my body feels incredibly achy/feverish. Overall it's really not that big of a problem, I'm just feeling worn out in a way that I know I shouldn't, which comes down to an overall bleh sensation when compiled with the emotional weird-factors of late.
Ah well. Last night Libby brought me a slice of homemade apple pie which just slid down my throat in the gooey, warm, wonderful way that only hot apple pie can master. Then John called and told me a story (complete with fun voices, eee!) so I didn't have to talk much. So... yes. Feeling not so great, but feeling rather loved simultaneously, and the latter bit, as always, keeps everything in the right perspective.
*salute* Ending LJ post now before I really start going into sappy ZOMG I LOVE YOU PEOPLE *CUDDDLLLLEEEEES* mode. No one really wants to see that. <_<;

Hey all, I've a small request for those of you who are fans of shopping on Amazon.com. The next time you go to buy a nifty book or gift, please consider beginning your search through this website:
http://www.redwolves.com/about_wolves/b ooklist.html
All purchases made after doing a search through that link will automatically cause Amazon to donate a small percentage of the profit to the Red Wolf Coalition, a red wolf conservation group which "advocates for the long-term survival of red wolf populations by teaching about the red wolf and by fostering public involvement in red wolf conservation."
I would greatly appreciate this small investment of your time whenever you next go looking for that special item you just have to have! Thank you much. ^_^

Went for another walk down to the beach today. Wound up taking a number of pics of the various beasties who came across my path. Upon showing them to Dad, he claimed I must have Sleeping Beauty Syndrome to get so many animals following me about. ^_^;
( To spare those of you with computers that hate ze photos. )

Unfortunately my scanner is on the fritz, so I've only got a photo at the moment until I can get things working again. But! I give you! My attempt at one interpretation of the Weather Dragons of Central Ohio who have... really no physical tie-in to the location other than that the pair is in a constant state of disagreement about the temperature, rain/shine, etc. (Background to be added soon once I figure out what it should be.)

Just this past month, Ohio State Representative Tyrone Yates proposed House Bill 568, a bill prohibiting the ownership of all pit bulls in the state of Ohio. If passed, the bill would require that all current Ohio pit bull owners surrender their dogs to animal control within 90 days, regardless of the dog’s bloodlines, behavioral history, age, or training. The proposal also states that if an owner does not surrender their dog willingly, a dog warden or other police officer who has reason to believe that the dog living at a particular residence may be a pit bull can apply for a search warrant to seize the pit bull from its home.
The bill then states that the dog warden is required to euthanize all pit bulls within 10 days of their surrender or removal.
Please help protect these beloved, four-legged members of the family from being taken away from their owners and killed. They’ve done nothing wrong, and don’t deserve to be destroyed simply because some members of their breed have been abused in fighting rings and have been given an unfair name based upon the behavioral results of their malicious treatment.
If you are a resident of Ohio, you can contact your state representative by e-mail, letter, or phone in order to express your opinion about this issue. You may also contact the Leadership of the House, the Committee Chair, and Representative Yates. Contact information and suggestions for writing letters can be found here at the Canine Advocates of Ohio Website.
You can also contact Ohio’s governor, Ted Strickland, by using this website.
Also, even if you're not a resident of Ohio, please share this information with any friends or relatives you may have within the state so that they can contact their representative on behalf of Ohio's pit bulls.
Finally, if you would like more information, I’ve provided a few more links that might be of assistance:
- House Bill 568
- ASPCA’s official statement
- Your Rights When Dealing with Animal Control
Thank you for your time and concern. I hope that together we can stop this bill from being passed and prevent the needless deaths of so many innocent dogs.
Sincerely,
Kaitlyn
